Jonathan “Jake” Gebert is the interim Vice-President (Finance), Chief Financial Officer and Interim Vice-President (Services and Operations) at the University of Calgary. These roles encompass a broad portfolio including campus security, emergency management, environment, health and safety, facilities development, facilities management, information technologies, process excellence and transformation, finance, supply chain management, risk management and insurance, ancillary services and internal audit.
Reporting directly to the President, Jake is a key member of the university’s executive leadership team and plays a central role in advancing institutional priorities related to finance and operational support services.
Jake re-joined the university in 2025 as interim Vice-President. He previously held numerous leadership positions including Vice-President (Finance & Services) while employed at UCalgary from 2001 until 2014. During that time, he worked to improve UCalgary’s budget model and strengthen the financial health of the university.
A chartered professional accountant, Jake was Chief Financial Officer and Vice-President of Finance & Operations at RGO, an Alberta-based office supplies and services company. He has also been a senior manager at Deloitte Canada and previously served on the board of directors for WinSport, was a board member for the Universities Academic Pension Plan and was the former Chair of the UAPP Investment Committee. He also spent a decade as a member of the NAIT Audit, Finance, Foundation and Land Development Committees before stepping down in March 2025.
Jake holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) Honours in Biochemistry.
