Research assistant for Bio-Medical testing
We are seeking a research assistant to test new Bio-Medical devices.
The position is suitable for MSc graduate in Engineering or Science, or student towards completing his/her studies, with interest in project management. The research will require searching and sourcing for bio-compatible materials, searching and sourcing of test means and equipment/ materials, planning and executing the required tests in the laboratory. Tests will be done according to Good Lab Practice (GLP) and accompanying the clinical trials planned for the new device.
Note: Commercialization for the device is being sought and the candidate can build himself/ herself towards a leadership position in this endeavor
Please contact Dr. Orly Yadid-Pecht directly at Orly.Yadid-Pecht@ucalgary.ca to apply for this position.
Business Development Intern
In addition, we are offering the From Lab 2 Fulfilment (FL2F) workshop fostering entrepreneurship catered to women faculty in science and engineering at universities. The workshop provides the women with a set of tools and strategies to promote their idea towards commercialization. We are looking for a student interested in supporting the promotion and the marketing of the workshop at the university, other universities, international conferences, research labs, etc.
PDFs and Graduate Students
We are currently seeking postdoctoral fellows (PDFs) and graduate students for the following position: Integrated Food allergen based on aptamer unique biochemistry hybrid development and CMOS imaging
Potential candidates submit your applications electronically including a full resume and transcripts with the form below.
- Postdoctoral Fellows (PDFs): Skilled and enthusiastic PDFs in Engineering or Sciences for engagement in exciting state-of-the-art leading projects in the areas of Biomedical Sensors and Security Sensors. Work spans from optics and materials (optical filters, optical fibers, and materials for imaging applications), system integration (work with bio-compatible materials for biomedical applications),mixed-signal VLSI chip design, Fluorescence-Based Cellular Imaging for Lab-on-a-Chip Applications, image and signal processing algorithms implementation.
- Graduate Students: We are seeking excellent postgraduate students for exciting projects on sensors research and development. Work spans optical design (fibers, filters), materials (fluorescence filters for biomedical applications), analog design, digital design (VHDL), mixed-signal, sensor modeling, fabrication, system integration, sensor network communications, Fluorescence-Based Cellular Imaging for Lab-on-a-Chip Applications and biomedical lab and field experiments. We are looking for potential candidates with a background in Mechanical or Aeronautics engineering for a MEMs project, and people with experience in FBG for an instrumentation project.
We are recruiting in the following areas:
Optical design (filters, fibers)
Bio-compatible materials(for biomedical applications)
Optical instrumentation (FBG etc.)
System Integration (Lab-on-a-chip)
Mixed (Analog and Digital)signal design
Communications (Wireless Sensor Networks)
Optics – our sensors interact with light. To exploit the most possibilities light has to offer, we would like to integrate optics in different ways in our sensory application implementations. People with a good background in optics which are interested in expanding their knowledge into sensing systems, mainly in the biomedical arena, with an excellent track record of experience and ability for innovative thinking, are encouraged to apply.
