Your Guide to Alumni All-Access 2026: Part Two
Alumni All-Access kicks off on Oct. 15 and, with 11 days of events, there’s plenty to start planning for. In Part One of our guide, we looked at what’s happening during the opening days of AAA. But that’s only the beginning. From Oct. 20 to 25, there are six more days packed with opportunities to learn something, experience something, start something and reconnect with your UCalgary community.
We’re heading to the movies, getting behind the scenes of health research, talking about our pets and even asking whether the meaning of life might actually be... project management?
Alumni All-Access 2026 features in-person and virtual events giving you plenty of ways to take part. Here’s what to look for in the second half.
Oct. 20 | Science Meets the Silver Screen
Science meets the silver screen at Science in the Cinema: Death Becomes Her on Oct. 20 at Calgary’s Central Library.
Frenemies. An unhealthy obsession with beauty. A magic potion. Immortality. And cutting-edge science?
Just in time for Halloween, Science in the Cinema presents the 1992 cult classic, Death Becomes Her, starring Meryl Streep, Goldie Hawn, Bruce Willis and Isabella Rossellini. After the laughs, gasps and gruesome mishaps, stick around for a Q&A with UCalgary alumni and experts in human organoid research to find out just how far science really is from the fountain of youth imagined in the film or, perhaps, how close.
Best of all, admission and popcorn are free.
When: Oct. 20 at 5:30 p.m.

We think a lot about antibiotic resistance in humans. But what about the animals sharing our homes?
Keeping Pets Healthy: Antibiotic Resistance and Your Pets brings the issue closer to home with a conversation designed for the people who care for our four-legged family members. If you’re a pet owner or simply interested in the connections between animal and human health, spend an evening learning more about an issue with implications that extend well beyond the veterinarian’s office.

With a title like that this virtual lunchtime session isn’t afraid to ask a big question or have a little fun doing it.
Leading the conversation is Dr. Vincent Chiew, BSc (Eng)’91, BSc’97, MSc’03, PhD’12, who brings more than 35 years of global experience spanning engineering, IT, business transformation, safety, security, quality and project management. Whether project management is part of your job description or you’re simply someone who has ever tried to get a group of people, a deadline and a plan moving in the same direction, this one might have something for you.
