V.141 Release Notes

This release includes bug fixes, security maintenance, a search improvement, UCDS integration exploration, and tech debt cleanup.

Release Highlights

  • Profile list fix: job title display in profile list blocks 
  • News feed reliability: Continued investigation of missing content in news feed blocks and news landing pages — traced to a suspected Solr indexing issue.
  • Research database search: Expanded the Funding Opportunities search to cover Title, Sponsor, and Summary fields.
  • Drupal security maintenance: Applied Drupal 10.6.12, Drupal 10.6.13, plus Colorbox and Paragraphs security updates.
  • UCDS integration planning: Established a baseline performance metrics plan and documented potential blind spots for Design System integration.

Bug fixes

  • Profiles with job titles assigned were not displaying them even with the toggle disabled. Entity loading added for the job description field.
  • Missing news content in dynamic feed blocks and news landing pages. There is now a unique identified and should not run into conflicts. Additional functionality added to populate the feed headings if they are empty.
  • Issues with image to an arms-length menu block fixed to due outdated function.
  • Missing /node/* after adding block layout menu. The ucws_block_entity_presave hook's conditional for the negate condition was changed. 

Improvements

  • Change to the Research Opportunities Database search input field to search for the Title, Sponsor, and Summary fields within each entry's Description and Keywords sections. 

Maintenance

  • Update Colorbox to 2.2.1. for security update for malicious JavaScript injection. 
  • Two security updates for the Paragraphs module from 1.20 to 1.21 for access bypasses
  • Drupal core to 10.6.12 for a patch release with one minor security update for composer and library changes. Drupal core then updated to 10.6.13 is a moderately security release fixing information disclosure and cross-site scripting.

Tasks

  • Standardizing module state across all sites based on the documented enabled modules list. 

 

Work In Progress

The following work items are currently in progress:

  • Investigating how to best integrate UCDS with Webforms, focusing on unknowns like error handling complexity.
  • Adding safety features to the block-disable script after attempt at disabling reusable blocks
  • Fix large DB queries to taxonomy base tables. Improving taxonomy queries to reduce idle connections and fix "MySQL server has gone away" errors on News.
  • Evaluating removal of dynamic news headers, with 301 redirects and standardization on ucalgary.ca/news.
  • Adding keyword search, teams filter, and menu type filter to the menu list.
  • Fix filter reordering of Grad Degree List block 
  • Issues editing Profile - User taxonomy terms 
  • Improvements to the ‘Related Stories’ dropdown options in news 
  • Remove unused modules Ctools (Chaos Tools) and Ckeditor Liststyle
  • Funding Opportunities database fix to search the Sponsor field. The bubble functionality improvements
  • Outdated schema notices for ucws_image_gallery and ucws_masonry_gallery need field data migrated to new database tables.
