V.135 Release Notes

V. 135 of the UCalgary Web System is now live, featuring a range of updates and fixes. This release includes a significant amount of work on the News site, including the removal of unused workflow revisions and improvements to sitemap rebuilds. These News changes mark an important first step toward improving Google Search indexing for News content. Check out the release notes for a full overview of the latest changes.

What’s Fixed? 

Bugs and issues resolved in the latest release.  

  • Resolved several PHP warnings in 

    • Event Feed / LiveWhale 

    • Page Filter blocks related to array-to-string conversion

  • Turned off revisions for Undergraduate Degree Guide List block by default to reduce unnecessary database entries. 

  • Search API Solr updated to 4.3.10 to reduce security risk. 

 

What’s New? 

New features, block enhancements, and system updates from the latest release.   

  • Roles that manage users have been updated to allow disabling accounts only.  

  • Research Data Table  

    • Includes hardcoded boilerplate text in the “Additional Info” section. 

    • Allows entering an external “Pre-Application Program Deadline” without requiring an internal deadline. 

    • Updated with help text and clearer field order for Pre-Application deadlines. 

  • Updated the Haskayne site with a Robots.txt file to prevent Google from indexing images from the “Incorrect applications” section. 

 

News Improvements: 

  • Improvements to the news for workflow revisions that were not in use.

  • Sitemap URL rebuild and regeneration.

  • News landing page tags view improvements. 

  • Block URLs in staging environments now pointing to staging-news rather than production. 

 

Other items from this sprint  

  • Automated test fixes and improvements. 

  • Continued decommissioning process for the Qatar site.  

 

In Progress 

Work that is currently in progress and will be included in an upcoming release.  

Fixes 

  • Resolve AHS profiles being unpublished incorrectly.  

Enhancements  

  • Begin the development process of a new Dialog Insight block to replace Marketo and support in-page form display.  

Other 

  • Automated test fixes and improvements.
