UToday HomeMay 15, 2013

Contest Hotel Alma StampedeHotel Alma is having a contest to find a chuckwagon driver between the ages of 7 and 12 to drive the Alma chuckwagon on July 13 at the Calgary Stampede Kids’ Chuck Challenge.

The Kids Chuck Challenge takes place each night during the Stampede evening show. During intermission of the GMC Rangeland Derby, four children race miniature chuckwagons for prizes. On July 13, one of the chuckwagons will be a Hotel Alma wagon driven by a child with one parent who works at the University of Calgary. If you have a 7 – 12-year-old who would like to participate in this fun event, your family can enter the contest.

“Stampede is such an integral part of the Calgary community and we’re excited to be able to reach out to our campus families to find a chuckwagon driver for this event,” says Hotel Alma associate director Amy Turner.

The winner gets to drive the chuckwagon and will be given a western shirt, hat and boots to wear for the ride. The rider’s boots will be presented to the contest winner at the University of Calgary Stampede BBQ on July 2. The driver’s family will receive four tickets for the Evening Show so they can cheer on their little cowboy or cowgirl at the race, then stay to enjoy the Grandstand Show afterwards. Prizes will be awarded to the winners of the race!

Eligible drivers can enter by telling us what they like best about the Calgary Stampede. Send a drawing, video, poem, story, photo, or anything that helps to tell us about your favourite part of Stampede.

To enter visit and submit a contest form before June 7, 2013 at 4:30 p.m.
