Scholars Academy accepting applications for next cohort.Scholars Academy accepting applications for next cohort. The Scholars Academy Program for the University of Calgary’s highest achieving students is now accepting applications.

This unique support program for high performers provides academically talented students with the privilege of developmental opportunities that enhance their eligibility for prestigious scholarships and graduate/professional programs.

“It is important that students who come to the University of Calgary are well supported so that they can achieve individual success and to maximize their future contributions to society,” says University of Calgary President Elizabeth Cannon.

“The Scholars Academy Program provides our top students the enriched environment they require to thrive, driving success for all of our students, and propelling the University of Calgary toward our goal of becoming one of Canada’s top five research universities by our 50th anniversary in 2016.”

The benefits of the Scholars Academy are substantial for students who are accepted into the program. Students have access to a dedicated program co-ordinator who supports their scholarship and grad school applications, oversees the engagement of students in appropriate career-related volunteer opportunities, and promotes a return to community. Among the many other benefits, scholars are connected with well-known mentors from the external community, take part in an exclusive speaker series, attend networking and professional development opportunities and are surrounded by a community of equally ambitious peers to help support their pursuits.

Academically, students accepted into the program will be at or near the top of their class — but academics alone won’t guarantee admission. Scholars Academy students are bright, dynamic individuals and leaders in the community. They show enthusiasm toward learning, an avid interest in research, demonstrate compassion and integrity toward others, and inspire those around them. Students from all faculties entering their second, third, or fourth year are eligible to apply to the program. If you know students who fit these criteria, please encourage them to apply.

The deadline for applications is May 3. For more detailed information about the program, please contact the Scholars Academy Program at, or visit
