University of Calgary mourns death of student Brett Wiese

UToday HomeJanuary 15, 2013

Yesterday, President Cannon shared the below message about the tragic death of one of our students.

This weekend, we lost a bright, hard-working student from our campus community. Brett Wiese was fatally stabbed at a house party early Saturday morning.

We are truly saddened by this tragedy, and have extended our deepest sympathies to Brett's family and his many friends here at the university.

Brett, a third-year Bachelor of Commerce student in our Haskayne School of Business, was an aspiring business leader and a good friend to his fellow students. He came to the University of Calgary from Ponoka, Alberta.

We are a tight-knit campus community and I know we will support one another through this difficult time. Confidential support from our counsellors is available through our on-campus Wellness Centre.

Our thoughts are with Brett’s family and friends.
