Shortlisted Campus Bookseller of the Year

By Sue Reczka

The University of Calgary Bookstore was shortlisted for Campus Bookseller of the Year by the Canadian Booksellers Association (CBA).

Nominated and voted on by members of the Canadian bookselling community, CBA Libris Awards honour outstanding achievement by authors and editors, sales representatives and distributors, and booksellers and publishers.

The criteria used to determine the winning Campus Bookseller of the Year will be based on excellence in book retailing and includes performance in superior customer service and innovation, store atmosphere, supply of required texts and complementary reading material, marketing initiative, faculty relations and community involvement.

“It’s an honour to be nominated by our peers and the Canadian Publishing industry”, says Brent Beatty, director of the bookstore. “In addition to books, the bookstore offers a wide variety of merchandise and we’re committed to delivering excellent service to every customer. This nomination is confirmation that we’re doing it well and I’d like to thank the entire bookstore team for their hard work and dedication.”

This year’s shortlist for Campus Bookseller of the Year also includes the University of Toronto and McGill University. The winner will be announced during CBA’s 2011 Libris Awards Presentation, May 14 during CBA's National Conference.
