Getting the vote out

UToday HomeApril 23, 2012

More than two dozen student volunteers are using an opt-in database with thousands of students' cell phone numbers to make calls to get out the vote today.

In past elections, the transient nature of student housing and summer employment contributed to ambiguities about where a student's "ordinary residence" is located. This election, volunteers working with the Students' Union are ensuring eligible student voters—many of whom will be voting in a provincial election for the first time—are armed with all the information they need to exercise their civic duty.
