Upcoming budget process: Your voice matters

As we prepare for the budget process for the 2025-26 fiscal year, we want to ensure your voices are heard in shaping our priorities. Your feedback is invaluable, and we are committed to incorporating your insights into our planning.

Open now until Oct. 15, 2024, the survey will focus on understanding our community’s priorities and will allow respondents to add additional areas they consider to be priorities. Potential priorities include, but are not limited to, physical and digital infrastructure, professional development for faculty and staff, financial and mental health supports for students, foundational funding for faculty and central services, and new innovative programs and teaching developments.

This year, we will also consider feedback from recent campus engagement surveys and insights from the Ahead of Tomorrow 2023-2030 strategic planning exercise. Your contributions will help shape the future of our university and ensure we allocate resources effectively to meet our community’s needs.

Some of the innovative projects we’ve moved forward as a result of the Ahead of Tomorrow Strategic Plan and past engagement with the community include:

• The new multidisciplinary science hub, which when complete, will add at least 2,000 full-time graduate and undergraduate spaces, relieving growing enrolment demand pressures in the Faculty of Science.
• The $68.5M Veterinary Medicine Learning Commons facility at the Spy Hill Campus, which is a key development for expanding our specialized training and research facilities.
• Specialized research in Quantum has resulted in community partnerships including the Quantum City initiative, Quantum Horizons Alberta, Quantum Alberta, and the Institute for Quantum Science and Technology.

These projects represent just a small sample of the leading-edge work UCalgary participates in at the highest level, encouraging the potential for transformative discoveries.
