Foundation folds

Foundation fulfills its role

It’s now easier and less confusing to leave a legacy gift—donations made in one’s will or estate plans—to the University of Calgary.

For the past 10 years, such gifts were often directed to the University of Calgary Foundation (1999). However, having a separate foundation has at times created confusion in the community and some duplication of effort.

The university’s legacy giving fundraising program is now well established and able to operate independently of a separate foundation. Thus, as of Dec. 8, 2008, the University of Calgary Foundation (1999) has officially been dissolved, following a unanimous vote by the foundations’ board of directors and founding members.

From now on, those who would like to leave a legacy gift can simply name the University of Calgary or the Governors of the University of Calgary as the beneficiary.
