UCalgary students use their lenses to explore the world
The 27th annual International Photo Contest received over 200 entries this year, showcasing the once-in-a-lifetime experiences UCalgary students had while studying and traveling abroad. With cameras in hand, the study abroad students soaked up these unforgettable moments and ensured they captured their adventures to share them with the UCalgary community.
Students submitted their photos in three categories: People, Place and Bucket List Item. “This annual contest inspires students to discover the many ways that they can take their degrees abroad, and show that there is truly an option that can work for any UCalgary student,” says Colleen Packer, director, international learning programs.
“When students internationalize their degrees, they have the opportunity to encounter unforgettable people and places. The images shared in this contest encourage students to step into these incredible moments, and get a feel for what studying abroad is like.”
All categories, except for People’s Choice, were chosen by a panel of judges based on image composition, style, and expression of international experience. More than 3,000 people, in-person and online, cast their vote for their favourite photos in the People’s Choice category.
Students are encouraged to continue sharing their study abroad experiences throughout the year by tagging @UCalgaryAbroad on social media. You can find more photo submissions on the UCI Website, or the UCalgary Abroad Facebook page.
