Priority announcements for O'Brien members
See below for a list of particularly good opportunities for O’Brien members to increase their chances of funding. The following are just a few of the many priority announcements available and there are additional priority announcements that would be of interest to O’Brien members. Each priority announcement has its own specific requirements. The full list of priority announcements and their requirements is available here.
- Computer modelling and simulation to accelerate health research
- only available to Nominated Principal Applicants based in Alberta
- $750,000 in total funding available (~5 grants)
- Maximum amount for a single grant is $150,000 for 1 year
- Patient-Oriented Research
- $2,000,000 in total funding available (~20 grants)
- Maximum amount for a single grant is $100,000/year for up to 1 year
- $1,200,000 of the total funding (~12 grants) is set aside for nominated principal applicants who are early career investigators
- Pandemic Preparedness and Health Emergencies – Early Career Investigator Multi-Year Bridge Grant
- $2,000,000 in total funding available (~5 grants)
- maximum amount for a single grant is $200,000/year for up to 2 years.
- There is also a separate priority announcement in this area that will be awarded as prizes to the 10 early career investigators with the highest ranking funded projects in the relevant research area. 5 of the prizes will be awarded to applications in the area of health services/social, cultural, environmental and population health.
The CIHR Project Grant registration deadline is February 9th and the internal deadline for full applications is 9 a.m. March 7th.
