Responding to questions about new return to campus measures

A message from Teri Balser, provost and vice-president (academic)

As many of you are aware, the University of Calgary is putting into place new rapid testing, vaccination, and masking policies as we prepare to return to campus this fall.

We want to clarify that the rapid testing and masking measures announced on Tuesday, August 17, will remain in effect for the entire fall-term. This is to provide certainty as we embark on a new school year. The policies are focused on ensuring our students, faculty and staff remain safe and enabling a return to as much in-person instruction as possible. They will be evaluated before the end of the year to determine if they are still needed for the Winter term.

We know there is interest in learning how the protocols will be implemented, and we have updated our FAQs with as much detail as possible. We will continue to share updates with the latest details as they emerge.

We’ve heard from you, our campus community, about what you need to return to campus, and I am excited to meet you and welcome you back!

Thank you,

Teri Balser
Provost and Vice-President (Academic)
