The O’Brien Institute is hiring a Business Operations Manager
The O’Brien Institute for Public Health is accepting applications for a Business Operations Manager. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension. This position reports to the Administrative Director, Dr. Jamie Day.
The O’Brien Institute mission is: To advance public health through research excellence. 2021 marks the beginning of the Institute’s next decade of IMPACT, and a new Scientific Director and strategic plan are cementing the Institute as an exciting, impactful and dynamic institution, playing a vital role at the intersection of society and academia in conducting research that will have a positive impact on public health. If you think you would be a great fit for our team, submit your application here.
The O’Brien Institute would also like to take this opportunity to wish a very fond farewell to our previous Business Operations Manager, Marie-Claude (MC) Proulx. The Institute community will remember MC as the keeper of Institute knowledge, the fixer of technology, a critical contributor to the success of the Institute, and an exceptional team member and friend.
MC started her career at the University of Calgary in 2009 as a research assistant with Dr. Gilaad Kaplan. In 2010 she was promoted to project manager, and in 2012 she expanded her role to include project manager for the IBD unit.
In 2014, MC joined the O'Brien Institute for Public Health as project coordinator and then in 2021, was promoted to business operations manager for the Institute.
In 2020, MC moved back to Quebec with her partner and two daughters to be closer to family. She was able to stay with the Institute for many months due to the ability to work from home afforded by the pandemic.
But all good things must come to an end, and MC has now accepted a position as Research Officer for Research Services at Institute National de la Recherche Scientifique (INRS), Québec. We wish her all the success in the world in her new role.
