How would you rather kick off your weekend this Friday?
Stuck in a late afternoon meeting — or joining the roar of the crowd at the Dinos KICKOFF game as part of Alumni Weekend?
We’re guessing you’d opt for the game, not the meeting.
But, in case you need a bit more convincing to join the fun and festivities — which start at 3:30 p.m. in the southeast parking lot of McMahon Stadium — here are a few added incentives:

Step right up for your chance to dunk these deans at the Alumni Block Party at the Tailgate:

“I’m delighted to be one of the deans to be dunked,” says Dean Holloway. “It’s all in the name of fun — and, if it helps contribute to the spirit of Alumni Weekend, then I’m more than happy to be soaked!”
Students get three throws for free and alumni get their first throw for free, but more throws can be purchased — including $20 for an automatic dunk.
All funds raised at the Dunk a Dean booth will go to the UCalgary Alumni Association Scholarship.
"This is truly is a fantastic way for all members of our campus community — students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends — to engage with our deans in a way that’s fun for everyone,” says Students’ Union President Sagar Grewal, who is co-hosting the Dunk a Dean booth alongside Nuvyn Peters, vice-president of Development and Alumni Engagement. “Regardless of your connection, coming out to dunk a dean is the perfect way to connect and show your UCalgary pride!"
Carnival-like fun from your faculty
From Plinko to giant Operation games, engineering-defying feats, lovable dogs and more, the faculties are serving up a whole bunch of carnival-like fun at the Alumni Block Party at the Tailgate.
Show your UCalgary pride on Spirit Day Friday, Sept. 7 by wearing red or gold at work, in the community and, of course, at the KICKOFF game.
Plus, there’ll be free UCalgary swag (T-shirts, hats, scarves, etc.) up for grabs at the Alumni Block Party at the Tailgate, while quantities last. Just one more sweet incentive to clock out a little bit earlier than normal!
All this for just $10! That’s right — register for the Alumni Block Party and KICKOFF game here and get our special Alumni Weekend price of just $10 per adults (not to mention kids and youth get to attend at no cost, courtesy of UCalgary Alumni).
Don’t delay — online registration closes at 11:59 p.m. MDT on Thursday, Sept. 6. Tickets purchased on game day will be regular price.
