The honorary degree ― the Doctor of Laws ― is the University of Calgary’s highest academic honour.  It is bestowed on individuals whose notable achievements and community service merit recognition at this level. We are pleased to announce our honorary degree recipients for fall convocation on Tuesday, November 12.

Kathleen Sendall – morning ceremony at 9:30 a.m.

Kathleen Sendall is a proud Calgarian passionate about making the community better.  An international role model, she is a highly-regarded entrepreneur and philanthropist who has inspired and mentored dozens of emerging leaders in business and engineering, and has encouraged women to pursue careers in these fields.

David Dodge – afternoon ceremony at 2 p.m.

David Dodge is recognized for his distinguished career in the nation’s public sector. He is a leader in Canadian economic and monetary policy, a teacher and administrator extraordinaire, and he is widely praised for his steady leadership as Governor of the Bank of Canada from 2001-2008.

Our honorary degree recipients are an integral part of convocation as inspirational role models for our graduates. Please join us in offering our congratulations and welcoming Kathleen Sendall and David Dodge to our University of Calgary family.
