With Canada, the United States and Mexico facing generational economic, political and social change, the New North America Summit is an opportunity for the current generation of leaders to work with the next generation  to determine a future for our shared continent.

The New North America Summit convenes a select group of current and future thought leaders and stakeholders on the North American relationship at the BMO Centre in Calgary on June 15-16 to develop a future-oriented vision for our shared continent and practical steps to achieve it.

The Summit is hosted by the New North America Initiative (NNAI) at the University of Calgary’s School of Public Policy.

In addition to the working sessions for delegates, keynote speakers at the Summit include Alberta Premier Danielle Smith, respected Washington-based journalist Luiza Savage, currently Editorial Director at WP Intelligence, which navigates the intersection of business, technology and geopolitics,  and Tim Alberta, best-selling author of American Carnage: On the Front Lines of the Republican Civil War and the Rise of President Trump and an award-winning journalist who is a staff writer for The Atlantic magazine.

“The things that distinguish this conference is the broader vision beyond NAFTA/CUSMA issues to build a new enduring foundation for generations ahead,” said Carlo Dade, Director of International Policy at the School and Director of the NNAI. " We are bringing together the next generation of North Americanists, the emerging leaders who are going to provide the ideas for the structural change in how we share the continent.”

The Summit builds on the 2016 SAGE U.S.-Canada Summit and the Carnegie Endowment’s Foreign Policy for the Middle Class  project by incorporating new grassroots polling and focus group intelligence to inform discussions by a wider generational range of leaders.

“This isn’t a one and done event. This is the start of ongoing project to chart a future for our shared continent, built by and with the next generation” said NNAI Program Manager Alex Giordano.
