Dr. Stephen Freedman appointed associate dean, Clinical Trials

The CSM is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Stephen Freedman, MD, as associate dean of Clinical Trials. The appointment is for a 5-year term effective May 1, 2022.

Stephen completed his undergraduate medical education at McGill University, residency in Pediatrics at The Hospital for Sick Children/University of Toronto, and fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Northwestern University in 2003. He has been practising Pediatric Emergency Medicine at the Alberta Children's Hospital in Calgary since 2012.

Dr. Freedman holds the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation’s Professorship in Child Health and Wellness. He is an acknowledged expert in pediatric acute gastroenteritis, COVID and the conduct of multicentre clinical trials who has published over 200 peer-reviewed manuscripts and leads numerous CIHR and NIH funded research initiatives.

The CSM thanks outgoing associate dean Dr. Derek Exner for his success in the role, and the search and selection committee who helped make this appointment possible.
