Dr. Bafumiki Mocheregwa appointed Assistant Professor

Congratulations to Dr. Bafumiki Mocheregwa upon his recent appointment as a tenure-track assistant professor of African History at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM).  He has also been appointed as a fellow of the Dale Center for the Study of War and Society and a faculty affiliate of the Center for Black Studies at USM.   Dr. Mocheregwa completed his PhD in the University of Calgary’s Department of History in January 2021 under the supervision of Dr. Tim Stapleton.  Dr. Mocheregwa’s thesis is entitled ““`Thebe ya Sechaba;’ A History of the Botswana Defence Force, c. 1977 – 2007.”   Among his recent publications is “The Botswana Defence Force’s Policy of Arms Procurement in the Late Cold War Period and Beyond,” War and Society, Vol. 41 (2022), 53-68. Before pursuing PhD, Dr. Mocheregwa completed an MA in History at Trent University in Ontario and an undergraduate degree at the University of Botswana.
