Creation of Offices of Development and Alumni, and Communications and Community Engagement

Message from President Ed McCauley

Today, we’re announcing the creation of two new offices out of the Office of Advancement — the Office of Development and Alumni and the Office of Communications and Community Engagement.

Andrea Morris, who currently serves as the Chief Development Officer, will lead Office of Development and Alumni. Corey Hogan, who currently serves as the Chief Communications Officer, will lead the Office of Communications and Community Engagement. Current Vice-President, Advancement, James Allan will be leaving the university and I want to thank him for his service and dedication to the University of Calgary.

This change will strengthen the university in a changing environment and bring dedicated focuses on philanthropy and community engagement.

Andrea Morris
Vice-President, Development and Alumni

Andrea joined the University of Calgary in 2015 to lead Energize: The Campaign for Eyes High, a $1.4-billion initiative which closed successfully in 2020 as the third-largest fundraising campaign in Canadian history. She and her teams are responsible for building and stewarding relationships with donors and stakeholders to support UCalgary’s mission. In 2021, she served as Interim Vice-President, Advancement (Development).

Prior to 2015, she spent 15 years in progressively responsible roles in development and alumni relations at the University of Alberta. She led the expansion of the university’s presence in Calgary and was instrumental in the success of its $600-million centenary campaign. She began her career at her alma mater, the University of Ottawa.

Andrea was recognized with the 2022 Outstanding Achievement Award by the Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education (CCAE).
