Congratulations, Areej!

UCalgary History's Areej-E-Zehra Syed Naqvi successfully defended her SSHRC-funded MA thesis “Desi Divas and Feminist Links: Print Culture Fostering Diasporic Connections in Canada.” Her research used The Prairie Link and Diva: A Quarterly Journal of South Asian Women as sources to understand women’s roles in creating diasporic identities and various forms of community organizing.

Areej has received a SSHRC doctoral fellowship to pursue a PhD in the Department of History and Classical Studies at McGill University.
