Angelique Saweczko to depart UCalgary for appointment at University of Toronto
It is with a mix of sadness and gratitude that I share with you today that Angelique Saweczko will be leaving the University of Calgary as she has been appointed university registrar at University of Toronto effective April 1, 2021. This appointment is recognition of Ang’s personal leadership and accomplishments and the leadership strength of our institution.
Angelique joined the University of Calgary in February 2015 with more than 17 years of experience working in post-secondary enrolment services. She served as the associate vice-president, strategic enrolment and university registrar at Thompson Rivers University (TRU), as director of enrolment services at the University of Regina, and she spent many years at York University in recruitment, admissions and awards. Angelique holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from York University as well as a Master of Education in post-secondary studies from Memorial University.
During the last five years at the University of Calgary, Angelique has been committed to supporting our students and enhancing the student experience. This is evident through the launch of schedule builder, a revised and mobile student portal, revamping of admissions, introduction of extenuating circumstance withdrawals (EWs), regulation changes, updating of the Registrial Office (RO) online presence, and reduced wait times and lines with QLESS.
Angelique is a results-oriented leader with unwavering commitment to her team and our students. She has built strong relationships with units across the campus (especially related to enrolment management and institutional regulation changes/reviews) and created a culture of support and service within the RO by developing and implementing office values, improving internal communication, cross-unit collaboration, and re-organization of teams.
Throughout the pandemic Ang has demonstrated outstanding leadership — she has worked tirelessly to ensure that registrarial functions continued, that her team was supported, and most of all that students received the services and information they needed. Much of the work from the RO had to be reconceptualized and adapted to the circumstances around the pandemic — which meant increased workload with very short timelines. We are very grateful to Ang and the entire RO team for the work done in the last nine months.
A search for our next registrar is being launched immediately.
Please join me in congratulating Ang on her appointment.
