Fear Factor: Department of Psychology part of TELUS Spark’s Adults Only night

Oct. 11, 2012

Halloween is just around the corner and Fear & Risk is the theme of the evening at TELUS Spark’s Adults Only night on October 11. Who better to confront issues of terror than someone from the University of Calgary’s Program in Clinical Psychology?

Throughout the evening, common phobias, fears and risk-taking moments will be explored as graduate students stand by at “fear stations” to help TELUS Spark visitors overcome their fears, from snakes and tarantulas to germs, viruses and death itself! Calgary Reptile Parties and AM Makeup Special FX will also be on board to make the evening truly terrifying.

Members of the University of Calgary Program in Clinical Psychology will be taking questions regarding the development of phobias and discussing treatment for all kinds of debilitating fears. Adjunct professor Deborah Dobson, who specializes in anxiety disorders, will also be giving a presentation entitled Frights & Phobias.
