National funding from NSERC supports projects at the University of Calgary

Jan. 9, 2014

Two University of Calgary researchers will be among the recipients of prestigious Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) grants to be announced later today at a news conference in British Columbia.

One project will have researchers aiming to develop a new cost-effective process for capturing carbon dioxide. The technology is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and lead to sustainable production of hydrogen and involve the training of highly qualified personnel for Canada's natural resources and energy sectors.

Another researcher is developing a set of new algorithms to make cloud computing more robust and reliable, so that more users adopt the technology to drive their economic activities.

WHAT: New NSERC grants for University of Calgary researchers.

WHO: Researchers' names to be revealed at 11 a.m.

WHEN: Researchers available for interviews by appointment.
