Active Living serves up new $10 holiday drop-in fitness classes

Try a variety of 10 different classes for $10 apiece from Dec. 10 to Jan. 12

Active Living is offering a holiday impulse buy that’s slightly healthier than candy canes and gingerbread cookies.

Running from Dec. 10 to Jan. 12, anyone can try a variety of 10 different fitness classes for a drop-in rate of $10 a class.

Pam Cox, the manager of health and fitness programs, is excited Active Living is able to offer some drop-in options, which is a departure from the usual registered semester-long commitments.

“In the past, the holiday schedule has been registered as well, but I wanted to try a drop-in program this year to allow for more flexibility for those with busy schedules,” says Cox. “I’m hearing lots of great feedback already.”

Like a tray of fresh-baked Christmas goodies, there’s a little something to sample for everyone — and all fitness classes are guaranteed gluten-free.

For a high-energy workout, check out: Chiseled, Cycle and Core, 50-Minute Fitness, Hard Core Express, HIIT Bootcamp, and Tabata Express.

Or try Zumba, the cardio class that feels like a party. There are also three variations of yoga available: Raja Yoga, Yoga Flow, and Yoga Core.

Cox says she hopes to see some first-time participants take this chance to try Active Living on for size.

“Our programs are open to all ages, and all level of fitness from complete beginners to those who have been active for years,” reassures Cox, who also leads classes on occasion. “Our greatest asset is our team of instructors, who are experienced and passionate about making fitness energizing and most of all, fun!”

She says if the drop-in classes are well received, there are hopes to bring them back over the summer months next year.

To access any of these classes, visit Kinesiology Client Services (KNA 104) to purchase a drop-in wristband for $10 plus GST before arrival in the studio. Wristbands can be purchased in person anytime in advance, and you can get as many as you like. They do not need to be worn, but simply turned in to the instructor as proof of payment.
