Maps
This collection
includes a complete set of Federal (NTS) topographic maps of Canada and
topographic coverage of most other parts of the World.
Our focus is on
the western provinces, Alberta and British Columbia, for which we have
a large number of thematic maps, such as soils, bedrock and surficial geology.
The collection also
includes numerous special purpose maps for all parts of the World, including
road maps, geology, soils, vegetation, hydrographic, climate, land use,
political, population and historical themes.

Atlases
The Map
Library provides the user with a small reference collection of a variety
of atlases that range in scope from global to specific urban centres. The
collection also contains numerous World and foreign atlases. Special topical
atlases include environmental issues, census, economic and cultural.

Other
Materials
Soil reports,
official plans, tourist guides and brochures, globes, and a reference
book collection consisting of gazetteers, dictionaries, fire insurance
plans, mapping techniques and cartographic interpretation.

Equipment
The Map Library
is equipped with a coin and vendor card operated photocopy machine with
enlargement and reducing capabilities, work tables, a light table, microfiche
reader, mirror and pocket stereoscopes, magnifying glasses, planimetre
and some drafting equipment. The University of Calgary online catalogue
terminals also provide access to holdings in the University Library
