Alberta BASE - 1:20,000 Digital Base Maps
The GEODE archive includes the Alberta Digital Base Maps for the 11 NTS areas highlighted below on the map of Alberta. The digital files utilise the National Topographic System (NTS) naming convention dividing a 1:50 000 identifier into quadrants.Feature Classes:
- Alberta Township System - road allowance and quarter section level
- 30 NTS blocks (i.e. 83A) updated to 3rd Generation ATS Coordinate File
- 20 NTS blocks (i.e. 84G) 2nd Generation ATS Coordinate File
- Hydrography - all hydrographic features (greater than 400 metres in length)
- Transportation - i.e. roadways, railways, and airports
- Geo-Administrative - Boundaries or text/symbols for features (i.e. County/Municipal District, City, Town, Indian Reserve, Parks, Hamlet, Locality, Post Office)
- Contours - 10 metre intervals from DEM data
10 & 20 metre high density intervals in mountain regions from DEM data

- Universal Transverse Mercator projection (UTM)
- Reference Meridians of 111 and 117 degrees west longitude
- Geographic area 15 minutes EW longitude by 7.5 minutes NS latitude
- Datum is NAD83
- Accuracy +/- 5 metres
- Two-dimensional vector data
- Hydrography and Transportation feature classes captured from 1:60 000 image data from various time periods
