Jacky is a former NSERC, Alberta Innovates, Killam, and Marie Skłodowska-Curie scholar. He specializes in sensor fusion for robot navigation and mapping applications. His research experiences/interests include:
- Sensor error modelling (e.g. self-calibration of terrestrial laser scanners, digital cameras, 3D range cameras, etc)
- Point cloud manipulation and processing (e.g. geometric form fitting, feature extraction, segmentation, classification, etc)
- Markerless point cloud and image registration techniques
- Multiple sensor integration (e.g. GNSS/IMU/laser/vision)
- Terrestrial mobile mapping (e.g. handheld and backpack systems)
- Biomedical imaging (e.g. X-rays)
- 3D cameras (e.g. Microsoft Kinect)
- Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping (SLAM)
- Motion capture (e.g. inertial motion tracking)
- Computer vision and machine learning
- Mobile robotics (e.g. UAVs)
- Deformation monitoring and change detection
