Temporary Employment Guidelines

Most UCalgary employees have successfully transitioned to remote work during the COVID-19 pandemic. The university is committed to supporting staff during these times, and leaders are working to identify special projects and other opportunities to reassign or redeploy employees who are unable perform their usual duties remotely.

In cases where solutions cannot be identified to replace diminished or lacking productive work, temporary layoffs or FTE reduction may be implemented.

Letter of Agreement

A letter of agreement between the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees and the University of Calgary has been finalized to address temporary layoffs and reduction in hours of work in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Leave & Pay Guidelines

The university is committed to supporting as many employees as possible to work remotely, but we recognize that some work cannot be done from home. These leave and pay guidelines outline available options.
