This project was the result of an experimental Urban Design studio. It was intended to be interdisciplinary faculty-based research where students and faculty work as a team. The project was a response to the Mayor's Task Force Report 'Vision 2020' published in anticipation of Calgary's Expo 2000 bid. The proposal was based on the premise that examining all land surrounding Calgary's downtown core would lead to system-wide solutions. In the early 80’s immediately after the building boom of the 70’s, there were large areas of ill-defined, under-developed and vacant land surrounding the new towers of the downtown core. This project focused on this lost space and explored the extensive development opportunities that existed there.
