What is CURAC: The College and University Retiree Associations of Canada /Associations de Retraités des Universités et Collèges du Canada (CURAC/ARUCC) is  a not-for-profit federation of retiree organizations* (N=41 incldg AROHE) involving over 15,000 retirees at colleges and universities across Canada. This umbrella organization  is also linked into its United States sister association, the Association of Retirement Organizations in Higher Education (AROHE):  https://www.arohe.org      As indicated below, CURAC provides its members a number of benefits and learning opportunities such as:   (a) access to a  range of  insurance and travel plans, often at reduced rates, via its affinity partners; (b) it operates a network of active committees and develops policy papers;  (c) facilitates links with a range of national and international associations; and (d) organizes a national annual meeting that provides a forum for interaction of its members and sharing of best practices (including life long learning, keeping up to date with IT skills, and other components of active/healthy aging), and (e) an informative website
CURAC’s Purpose/Objectives: https://www.curac.ca/about-us/our-purpose/
▪to coordinate activities that promote communication among member retiree associations(RAs)
 ▪to share information
 ▪to provide mutual assistance, and
▪to speak publicly on issues of concern to the over fifteen thousand individuals from college and university retirees across Canada.
---I would add another one, which although perhaps embedded in the above, needs to be made more explicit:
▪to convey information to the general public,  postsecondary institutions, community planners and policy advisors about the contributions that retired academic staff make, or could make, to both university engagement **(faculty, students and administrative staff) and community engagement** (local, national, and international)
**(for definitions of both University & Community engagement, see:

way of looking at leadership: https://mintzberg.org/blog/communityship)
