If you watched the Dinos in Saturday's Vanier Cup on TSN, you may have noticed the latest creative from the U of C's brand advertising campaign featuring three U of C alumni living out our motto: Mo shuile togam suas. Robert Thirsk, BSc'76, LLD'09, Doug Hamilton, MD'91, PhD'91, and Laura Lucier, BSc'99, star in this spot we call "Teammates." Click below to watch it again; "Teammates" will also be featured on The Globe and Mail online and in airports and theatres in select cities across the country in December.

U of C looms large in Top 40

When Jeff Booke, MBA'05, moved to Calgary to take on the role of executive director of the city's struggling Jewish Community Centre, he never envisioned receiving the recognition bestowed upon him as a member of Avenue magazine's Top 40 Under 40 list for 2009. Booke was one of 18 U of C alumni, seven faculty members and a support staffer named to this year's list. Learn more...

Veale named interim president

Warren Veale has been appointed the U of C's interim president effective Jan. 1, 2010. Veale is a professor emeritus and has worked in three faculties. He was one of the founding faculty members of the Faculty of Medicine. Learn more...

Weingarten delivers final report

U of C President Harvey Weingarten delivered his final Report to the Community on Nov. 6. The theme of this year's event was "a strong idea grows forever"; Weingarten also announced that philanthropist, business leader and well-known Calgarian, Harley Hotchkiss, together with his wife Rebecca, will build upon their previous generosity and support for the Hotchkiss Brain Institute by committing $39 million towards a major endowment fund to support the ongoing research and education initiatives.
