Steve Worthington


A long-time Calgarian, Steve is a Professional Engineer who is active in Calgary’s high technology and manufacturing community. He has several decades of experience developing world-class products for both large and small companies. Steve is currently working as an engineering manager at Gentherm Global Power Technologies.

Steve graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with a Minor in Computing as well as a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering. With over 10 patents to his name, he values innovation. With over 30 years’ experience, he has experienced the many economic ups and downs of industry in Calgary and continues to be impressed by the strength and resilience of this city.

Giving back to the community is important, and Steve actively volunteers with several organizations in Calgary. In addition to volunteering at the Cumming School of Medicine, he is a mentor for internationally trained professionals with the Calgary Region Immigrant Employment Council and a member of the Mechanical Engineering Technology Advisory Committee at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. For over 15 years, Steve volunteered with Hockey Calgary, helping to develop the next generation of goaltenders. Steve is looking forward to serving on the Senate as a way of giving back to the University of Calgary.

Steve is married to Liza and has two growing children, Tim who attends the University of Calgary and Greg who attends Mount Royal University.
