Miriam Berchuk


Miriam is an anesthesiologist (MD 2000, FRCPC 2005) practicing at the Rockyview General Hospital. She is certified through the American Board of Obesity Medicine. She recognizes the importance of diet and a healthy lifestyle in population health and is currently serving as the Chief Medical Officer of the Insitute for Personalized Therapeutic Nutrition. She is a clinical assistant professor in the University of Calgary Faculty of Medicine.

Miriam believes strongly in the value of education and credits her excellent education with her success. She served as a director on the board of the Calgary Girls’ School, a public charter school.

She believes in advocacy for vulnerable populations and has served as a director on the board of The Alex, a Calgary not-for-profit that is a Canadian leader in developing and delivering innovative and accessible health and social services.

Miriam is passionate about global health and volunteers on surgical missions with Calgary-based groups as well as international organizations such as Médecins Sans Frontières.
