Request a manuscript or creative consultation

Consultations are closed until September.

Consultations will begin again in September 2018, when we welcome Liz Howard, our 2018–19 Canadian Writer-in-Residence. Full details of consultations with Liz will be added to the website closer to September.

The Calgary Distinguished Writers Program offers Alberta writers a unique opportunity to meet with experienced Canadian writers-in-residence on an individual basis to discuss their writing. These consultations are free and open to all writers in Alberta.

Our 2017–2018 Canadian Writer-in-Residence is Denise Chong

Manuscript consultations are one hour in length. Denise will meet with writers at any stage in their work both for structured manuscript consultations and for creative consultations to discuss aspects of the creative, research, and writing processes, from earliest stages to completion.

Those with material ready for review and comment may submit up to 10 double-spaced pages of nonfiction or fiction in .doc or .docx format, 12-point font. Denise will not be reviewing poetry manuscripts. Those who do not have pages prepared must submit a brief summary (100-200 words) of their project and what they would like to discuss with Denise.

Consultations will take place from September 2017 to June 2018, and must be booked by appointment.
