Daphne Marlatt, 2007-2008 Distinguished Visiting Writer

Daphne Marlatt, 2007-2008 Distinguished Visiting WriterPoet and novelist Daphne Marlatt was born in Melbourne, Australia and spent her early years in Malaysia. She has published over 14 collections of poetry, including This Tremor Love Is, Touch to my Tongue, How Hug a Stone, and Steveston. Her novels Ana Historic and Taken received much critical acclaim. In spring 2006, Pangaea Arts presented a full production of The Gull, Marlatt's contemporary Noh play about Steveston's Japanese-Canadian fishing community. Daphne Marlatt is a Member of the Order of Canada.

Daphne was in residence at the University of Calgary from January 15 to February 4, 2007.
