Spring/Summer Residence Event Series

Take a break from campus and soak up the outdoors with a chill day at Bowness Park! Spend the day canoeing and playing yard games with friends.

Deadline to register: July 27, 2025 

You must be a current Residence student to attend. 

Registrations are first come first serve. The first 20 registrations will be offered a spot to attend. 

Those who are not in the first 20 registrations will be added to a wait list. If a participant is unable to attend, the first person on the wait list will fill that spot, and will receive an email with further information.

Payment information

Event Cost: $15 

Following the event, the event attendees will see a $15 charge in their Residence account. The $15 charge will be posted on August 4, 2025 and MUST be paid by August 18, 2025. 

Timeline for the day of the trip

Please meet at the International House lobby. The bus will depart from International House 2:30 p.m. on Friday, August 1, 2025. 

The first canoe session at Bowness Park will start at 3:00 p.m. and end at 5:00 p.m.

The second canoe session will start at 5:00 p.m. and end at 7:00 p.m.

There will be yard games for students to play while they are not canoeing. 

The bus will depart from from Bowness Park at 7:30 p.m. Please meet at the Bowness Park traffic circle. 

Important information 

Be prepared for the weather. Ensure you are dressed appropriately for the day and bring sunscreen. 

Students can choose to pack a lunch or bring their own money to purchase food at the Bowness Cafe.

If you choose to not take the bus, please email vanessa.devries@ucalgary.ca. On the day of the trip, please notify the group leaders that you have arranged your own transportation back to campus.
