General Counsel and People and Culture

The Office of the General Counsel and Vice-President (People and Culture), strives to design and deliver services that are seamless, supportive, and centered on our faculty and unit needs, facilitating the university to achieve its academic, research, and innovation goals through strategic and efficient practices.

Legal Services

Legal Services provides legal advice to senior leadership and the university on all legal matters. The office also manages the development and consultation process of university policies and procedures, negotiates and reviews agreements, and retains external counsel on behalf of the university.

People and Culture

People and Culture is the one-stop-shop for all UCalgary employees to find resources and tools, and to get support with all questions related to human resources activities.

Secretariat

The University Secretariat supports the Board of Governors and the General Faculties Council by managing its operations and their committees, and facilitating communication between these bodies, senior leadership, and other groups.

Student Appeals Office

The Student Appeals Office is responsible for the coordination of the student appeals process at the University and is a resource for students, faculty, and staff regarding student appeals.

Protected Disclosure and Research Integrity

The Protected Disclosure and Research Integrity Office provides a centralized resource for university members to report allegations of a breach of a university policy or the university's research integrity policy by faculty of staff.

Reporting directly to the President, Jacqueline Lacasse oversees strategic initiatives that impact the university’s legal landscape, workforce management, and organizational culture.
