The growing prevalence of the World Wide Web (WWW) on the Internet
as an information resource means that there are a number of sites that currently
provide excellent information on ecotourism and related links. These
include:
Newsgroups are electonic forums available through Usenet, a
sub-group of the Internet. There is a wide range of topic areas dealing from
the erudite to the trivial. There are no newsgroups specifically dedicated
to ecotourism, but there are the following groups that deal with associated
topics.
The use of Mail Servers has developed in order to provide moderated
newsgroups that cut down on inane chatter, while focusing on the the stated
subject matter. Individuals must subscrive to these special groups, and on
average 20-50 messages are posted per day to member's electronic mailboxes,
depending on the popularity of the group.
There is presently one Mail Server dedicated to ecotourism.
Known as Green Travel-L, it acts as a discussion and information forum on
ecotourism issues. To access it:
