Maryam Malekshahian
Ph D Candidate, Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering
Research Interests: Maryam's background is in environmental engineering and she is going to work on catalytic gasification of coals and petroleum coke. Gasification of coal and/or petroleum coke is probably the most feasible way to generate hydrogen for upgrading of heavy oil, and to produce carbon dioxide that can be captured, processed and injected for geological storage. The goal of this research is to reduce the cost of hydrogen production and control the product distribution from gasification to maximize CO2 capture by catalytic gasification of coals and/or petroleum coke.
