Intramurals Learn to Play

Want to learn some different sports before joining one of Intramural leagues.  Then this program is for you.

Each sport will have 2 weeks of instruction and small game play to get you ready to play on a team in the next semester.  Sports included are soccer, spikeball, volleyball, basketball, esports, dodgeball, just to name a few.

Intramurals Mens Basketball

Winter 2024 Registration Opens November 15.
Registration & Playing Request Deadline January 10, 4:00pm
Max. 20 Teams.

Intramural basketball offers competitive leagues, mixed, men's, to allow you to select the type of competition you want. Teams will be scheduled for 8  games. All leagues have standings, officials and playoffs. Mixed league are required to have a minimum of 2 players of the opposite gender on the playing surface at all times. Traditionaly a 3/2 format.

All division descriptions are a base guideline.
A Division – Players would have intermediate to advanced skills and a firm knowledge of the rules. They would have played competitively in high school, club level or with city leagues.

B Division – Players would have intermediate skills and knowledge of the rules. They would have played in Jr. or Sr. high school or with city leagues.

C Division - Players would have basic skills and knowledge of the rules.  They would have played in Jr. high school or Sr. High.

D Division - Players are relatively new to the sport and have basic skills and knowledge of the rules. Emphasis is on fun over competition.

A/B and C/D Divisions have a seeding round, and will be broken up after. If not enough teams divisions will be combined, with a straight 8 game schedule. 
All teams are required to provide their own set of jersyes. (Competitive Leagues) prefered with numbers, this can be a set of pinnies, set of same colour shirts, or jerseys.  Intramurals is trying minimize contact points between participants and staff. 

*All participants must be 18 yrs or older or a UCalgary student

Intramurals Summer Basketball

Summer 2024 Registration Opens April 2.
Registration Deadline July 1
Monday or Wednesday Leagues
Max. 12 teams. 

Format for Summer 2024.
Teams will have 7 games throughout the season,  2 seeding round games, and then divided into divisions, 4 regular season games and a minimum of 1 playoff game. 

Summer league playing format: 4-10min stop time quaters, within 1.5hr time slot.  Games are 6:30pm & 8:00pm starts.  Teams are open status, meaning there is no gender minimums required. 

All leagues will have standings, officials and playoffs.  Play as a team or with other individuals. 

Open Division – Players would have basic to advanced skills and a firm knowledge of the rules. No gender minimums. 

Division will be combined, if not enough teams.
