Coding Minds - Minecraft Club

Grades 4 - 6

Is your child looking to optimize their performance in coding? If you are new to Minecraft®, this club will be perfect to get you into this wonderful open world. Kids will have the opportunity to become innovative coders and explore the foundations of digital literacy, coding and programming. They will learn to develop their understanding of logic, computational thinking and universal coding languages in Minecraft®. We will focus on everything from modding the game to learning about redstone circuits and beyond. Join us to dive deeper into the world of Minecraft®!

Coding Minds Club

Grades 5- 7

Is your child looking to optimize their performance in coding? Students will have the opportunity to become innovative coders and explore the foundations of digital literacy, coding and programming. They will learn to develop their understanding of logic, computational thinking, artificial intelligence and universal coding languages. Students will dive into programs like Scratch Jr. developed by MIT Media Lab to code their own game, TinkerCAD to develop their understanding of 3D printing principles and Minecraft to enhance their problem solving skills by creating their own automated landscape. Join us to help kick-start your programming career!

Girls Applied Science and Engineering Club

Grades 3 - 5

Calling all psyched about science girls! Need something fantastic to do on your Saturdays from 9am - 12pm? This is the place for you! Learn about science, engineering, and technology in a super fun, all-girl, environment. Instructors will lead you through several exciting sessions of hands-on projects that will leave you craving more science! This club is a great way for your child to interact with other girls while meeting multiple curricular requirements in STEM for Grades 2 - 4. Get on your lab coats and get ready for some fun!

Kids Applied Science and Engineering Club

Grades 3 - 5

Professional Development

Minds in Motion is offering free, Professional Development Sessions for Teachers, Pre-Service Teachers and At-Home Educators looking to deepen their understanding of Science, Engineering, Technology and Mathematics (STEM) no matter what curriculum you may be teaching. Sessions will include: how to do STEM unplugged, what is Design Thinking, creating Digitally Literate students and what does AI look like in the classroom. A certificate is provided after completion of each virtual session.

Early Minds Club

Entering Grades 1-2

Embark on an enchanting journey into the realms of science every Saturday from 1pm to 4pm with our Early Minds Club! Tailored for scientists in the making in Grades 1 and 2, this club is a gateway to the captivating universe of STEM. Through an engaging blend of games, stories, and experiments, students will delve into the wonders of science, all while meeting the educational curricular requirements for their grades. Our instructors will guide participants through a series of hands-on projects, igniting a passion for science that will leave them yearning for more! Not only is this club a fantastic educational opportunity, but it also provides a social platform for your child to connect with peers, making STEM discovery an exhilarating and enjoyable experience.
 

The Schulich Community Robotics Program

The Schulich Community Robotics Program (SCRP) is managed by Minds in Motion and the University of Calgary Robotics Association (UCRA). We coach FIRST Lego League (FLL) teams, mentor an all-girls FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team, deliver low-cost robotics and programming workshops for kids 5-17 years old, and are active in the local robotics community. All of our programs and events are 100% designed, planned, and delivered by volunteers thanks to the fantastic in-kind support from our amazing partners!
