Learn about hiking by getting out with our experienced guides. This introductory course includes the Prepare for Day Hiking lecture and 3 day hikes that progress from easy on-trail walking to hikes with more distance and elevation gain, and some off-trail travel. Guided Day Hikes
Join us for a day of group hiking in the Bow Valley, Kananaskis Country and beyond with an experienced guide. Enjoy spring flowers, ridgetop views, pristine lakes, alpine meadows and fall colours while learning about local ecology, pacing, travel skills, map reading, group safety and more. Trips are available for all fitness levels and interests. Prerequisite: none. Includes: guide. Some trips include van transportation.
Edible Plants Interpretive Hike
On this guided day hike, we'll take it slow and explore the forest floor, learning which plants we can eat and ways the plants have been used by both natives and early settlers. This is a great way to really learn about a specific natural area. Prerequisite: none. Includes: interpretive guide.
Easy Does it Hiking Fitness Series
Change your lifestyle over 8 weeks with a series that combines outdoor fun with indoor fitness training—ideal for those new to hiking and who have been fairly inactive. At the end of the program, you can expect to be able to complete a level 3 hike. Includes weekly training sessions led by a certified trainer and a day hike in the mountains each weekend, progressing in distance and elevation each week. Prerequisite: none. Includes: guide, fitness trainer, 8 x 1-hour evening training session, 8 x full-day weekend hike.
The Hiking Fitness Builder
Ramp up your fitness and commit to a series that will get you out hiking every weekend. It is designed for people who are currently active, but want to prepare for big summer goals. At the end of the program, you can expect to complete level 5 hikes and more. Includes weekly training sessions led by a certified trainer and a day hike in the mountains each weekend, progressing in distance and elevation each week. Prerequisite: moderate physical condition (ability to comfortably complete a level 3 hike). Includes: guide, fitness trainer, 8 x 1-hour evening training session, 8 x full-day weekend hike.
On this 5-week guided series, we will hike to the summit of a mountain or ridge every week–no climbing skills involved. Enjoy great workouts, exiting trails and fantastic photo opportunities. Prerequisite: good physical condition, recent experience on level 4+ hikes. Includes: guide, 5 full-day hikes.
SUP and Hike
This is a unique multi-sport adventure in the mountains where we'll paddle and hike on the same day. We start by paddling our stand up paddleboards across Barrier Lake with our hiking gear stowed in dry bags. Then we hike up toward scenic Jewell Pass, stopping along the way at a beautiful waterfall. Prerequisite: A. Intro to Lake Stand Up Paddleboarding or equivalent experience, ability to swim 20m without difficulty. Includes: instructor, all SUP gear.
