16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence Campaign: November 25 - December 10

Submitted by nfuruyam on Thu, 2009-11-12 16:20.

The Women's Resource Centre has chosen to adopt the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence Campaign from November 25 until December 10, an international campaign, to highlight the complex issues of violence against women and what individuals can do to prevent them.

The campaign has been commemorated by individuals and groups around the world who use a human rights framework to call for the elimination of all forms of violence against women by raising awareness and providing a forum for dialogue.

Why these particular 16 Days?

The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence Campaign uses the 16 days between International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (November 25) and International Human Rights Day (December 10) to reinforce that eliminating all forms of violence against women is a human rights issue and that the act of perpetrating violence against women is a human rights violation.
