Reviews

In 2002, General Faculties Council and the Board of Governors approved Raising Our Sights, an Academic Plan for the University of Calgary.

This strategic plan is built around a clear commitment to enhancing quality, scholarly culture and openness in decision-making and communication. It recommends the development of a process to ensure that centres and institutes be assessed against national and international standards of excellence and achievement.

In order for the University of Calgary to move forward and emerge as a leader in the areas defined as Academic Plan priorities, it is essential that recognized experts assess its institutes.  The comprehensive review process provides an examination of institutes based on statements of their scope and vision, on a review of their plans and activities during the term under review, and on their success in meeting the goals enunciated in their charters, with a view to focusing support on centres and institutes of superior quality.

The Vice-President (Research & International) has delegated the administrative responsibility for the review process to an Associate Vice-President (Research & International) with administrative support provided by a Review Coordinator.
