Do you know of an individual or group that is championing sustainability on campus? If so, nominate them for a University of Calgary Sustainability Award.
Hosted by the Office of Sustainability and its student volunteers, the annual Sustainability Awards recognize and celebrate the outstanding contributions and cooperative efforts of students, faculty and staff in advancing our institutional commitment to excellence and leadership in sustainability.
All campus members are encouraged to nominate individuals or groups that are advancing the social, environmental and economic dimensions of sustainability across our campus and in the community. Self-nominations are also being accepted.
The categories this year are:
• Campus as a Learning Laboratory Project (*new)
• Research – Community as a Learning Partner (*new)
• Teaching Leadership
• Student Leadership
• SU Student Club Leadership
• Staff Leadership Award
Two new award categories have been added this year to celebrate the importance of collaboration with different members on and off campus. The Campus as a Learning Laboratory Project Award aims to recognize projects that include collaboration with students, faculty and/or staff and advance the core-competencies for leadership in sustainability. The Research - Community as a Learning Partner Award seeks to recognize initiatives that directly engage the local and/or global community to find innovative solutions to the grand challenges situated in the context of sustainability.
The deadline for nominations is Feb. 19, 2016.
Awards will be presented by President Elizabeth Cannon at the eighth annual Sustainability Awards celebration event.
