A University that’s responsive to students
David Johnston is a champion for University of Calgary students.
“We want to offer students a well-rounded education,” says Johnston. “We also want to complement their in-class learning with activities and learning outside of class.”
That’s where the new co-curricular record comes in. It’s the first of its kind in Western Canada and tracks student’s extra-curricular involvement. “Students have embraced the idea,” says Johnston.
Helping students making the connection between university and the life is a top priority. “We prepare students to take their education and enter the work world with a full complement of skills, says Johnston. “We’re always trying to help students be successful after they leave U of C.”

Best and brightest…
Inspired by the positive spirit of the Vancouver Olympics - we are celebrating our own best and brightest. Starting this week, we’ll profile people in the U of C community – faculty, students, staff and alumni by asking them to share what they are most proud of and what they envision for the future. Suggestions for future profiles or comments are welcome at ucpeople@ucalgary.ca If you haven’t yet nominated someone for a U Make a Difference Award – you have until March 23.
