Treat body and soul to a massage. Did you know most health plans coverage massage therapy?

Massage Therapy at UHS is available to all students, staff, faculty and the public. It is not covered by Alberta Health, but is covered by most extended health plans. All students (Graduates, and undergraduates), staff and faculty have coverage for Massage Therapy.

Massage therapy is a modality of physical medicine (non-chemical) that is used as a primary or secondary method of treatment for dysfunction and to promote wellness in a healthy individual. It releases chronic tension and pain in muscles, improves circulation, increases flexibility in the joints and reduces mental and physical fatigue. Massage is also one of the best known antidotes for stress.

All new patients/clients are given an assessment on their first treatment. Forms can easily be filled out on the patient's arrival - this takes about 10 minutes, so please arrive a little early. Forms may also be downloaded and completed prior to a student's appointment. Click here for the massage release form.

New: CranioSacral Therapy!

What is CST?

CST is a light touch treatment that will release tensions deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction while improving whole body health and performance. Various tensions get absorbed by our bodies and slowly begin to tighten our muscles and potentially affect our brains and spinal cord. CST releases those tensions to allow the entire body to relax and self correct. With distinctive light touch techniquest to release restrictions, the central nervous system begins to free itself allowing elimination of pain and stress, strengthening resistance to disease and enhancing health and overall being.

What can CST have an effect on?

CST improves your body's ability to heal. It helps relieve a full spectrum of pain, illness and dysfunction, including:

  • migraines and headaches
  • chronic neck and back pain
  • stress and tension related disorders
  • motor coordination impairments
  • brain and spinal cord injuries
  • chronic fatigue syndrome
